Working together on Discord

We run this project on Discord: questions, files, updates, and decisions.

Get set up

About five minutes.

Open your invite

Open the invite link we sent you. Discord works in a web browser or as an app on your computer or phone. If you're new to it, you'll set up a free account as you join.

Set your name

When Discord asks for a display name, use your real one. You can change it later in your profile.

Say hi

Post a hello in #general. Someone on the team will reply.

Where things go

Each channel has one job, listed down the left (tap the menu on mobile). Three of them are on every project:

#generalUpdates and anything that doesn't have its own channel yet.

#randomOff-topic and casual chat.

#helpQuestions when you're stuck.

The other channels are specific to this project and named for what they hold. We'll point you to the right one as we go.

Working in Discord

Ask in any channel. If it's the wrong one, we'll move it.
To share a file, drag it into a channel, or tap the + beside the message box on your phone.
When we post something to review, a thumbs-up or a comment is enough.
We'll @-mention you (an alert with your name) when we need something. Otherwise there's nothing to check.
We write down what we decide.

Good to know

Long conversations sometimes move into a thread, a side chat linked to one message. If you see one, click it to read along. The server is private to this project.
